Joan Cusack-McGuirk, Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Chief Executive Officer was joined by Senator James Skoufis to cut the Ribbon on the hospital’s new Open Access Primary Care Center operated by The Medical Group at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall. Also in attendance were several elected officials, community leaders and longtime supporters of MSLC. The new Center, located on the lower level of MSLC’s Cornwall Campus, features extended primary care hours in a newly renovated space.

“Today is special. We’ve been waiting for this moment,” said Senator James Skoufis. “This will be the top hospital outpatient campus in New York and will be a model for the rest of the state. I thank Joan for her leadership, partnership, and friendship in making this transformation happen for our community.”

This transformation was made possible with the $11.9 million commitment from the New York State Department of Health as part of the Statewide Healthcare Facility Transformation Program (SHCFTP) IIb awarded to the hospital in 2020. The newly renovated Open Access Primary Care Center is just one of the enhancements outlined in MSLC’s transformation plan for the Cornwall Campus, which also includes an Imaging Suite, expanded Laboratory Services and multiple subspecialties, adding to the growing list of services provided on this campus.

“Just a few years ago, I stood before the community to announce the changes that were occurring to adopt to the evolving healthcare delivery model,” said Joan Cusack-McGuirk, MSLC Chief Executive Officer. “Today, we are able to showcase how our vision of expanding to meet the needs of our community has come full circle. This would not be possible without the advocacy of Senator James Skoufis, who was instrumental in securing the funds to bring this project to life. Supervisor Richard Randazzo who is with us today has also been a dear friend and supporter of MSLC throughout this journey and we are so excited to expand the services we provide to the community.”

Cusack-McGuirk was also joined by Mayor of Cornwall on Hudson, James Gagliano, as well as Mr. Sean Hammond representing Assemblyman Colin Schmitt, and Mr. Harry Porr, Deputy Orange County Executive representing Steve Neuhaus.

The Medical Group at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall is led by Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Gina Del Savio and Medical Director, Dr. Uticia Belfield, who also specializes in Internal Medicine.
