Important Changes to Our Visitation Policy- Effective September 13, 2021

Orange County is currently experiencing HIGH transmission of COVID-19.

Beginning on Monday, September 13, ALL SUPPORT PERSON/CAREGIVER VISITORS MUST BE
FULLY VACCINATED unless you can show a negative COVID-19 test within the past 48 hours or proof that you have been infected with the COVID-19 virus within the past 90 days and it’s been greater than 14 days since they have been infected. You must not currently exhibit any signs or symptoms of COVID-19. Support person/caregiver visitation for COVID-19 Negative Patients will be permitted between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. only.

This includes the emergency room as well as all outpatient areas. Support person/caregiver visitors must provide either their vaccination card or the NYS Excelsior Pass. The exceptions to this new policy, which are in accordance with the current executive order will be as follows:

-End of life

-Labor and Delivery and post-partum unit

-Patients under the age of 18

-Patients with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) and patients with cognitive impairments.

All other exceptions will be made on a case by case basis by the Chief Nursing Officer or the Chief Medical Officer.

All other elements of the Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall Visitation Policy Remain in Place, with visitation from 4:00 to 8:00 pm daily permitted for support persons/caregivers.

Outpatient areas, (1) support person per-patient unless the patient is under the age of 18, then both parents, or the legal guardian may accompany the patient.

General Inpatient areas (1) support person per-patient. For those under the age of 18, both parents or the legal guardian may accompany the patient.

Intensive Care Unit, (1) support person unless special circumstances exist. Special circumstances are predetermined and, on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the hospital’s leadership.

Labor/Delivery & Postpartum Units, (2) support persons, including a doula if requested, may accompany the patient throughout labor, delivery, and the postpartum period, including recovery, until discharge to home.
