Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall's
Magnet Recognition
Magnet® Accreditation
Twice Designated. Always Dedicated.
Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall (MSLC) achieved its initial Magnet designation on September 15, 2020. On July 22 2025, the organization was notified it has once again received this prestigious recognition.
This designation is a direct reflection of nursing professionalism, teamwork and collaboration in patient care. The American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Magnet Recognition Program® distinguishes organizations that meet rigorous standards for nursing excellence. With this credential, Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall is among the global community of Magnet-recognized organizations. Only a small and select group of health care organizations in the United States have achieved Magnet recognition. MSLC is one of 49 hospitals in New York State to receive this designation.
Magnet recognition is the gold standard for nursing excellence and is a factor when the public judges health care organizations. U.S. News & World Report’s annual showcase of “America’s Best Hospitals” includes Magnet designation in its ranking criteria for quality of inpatient care. The foundation of this model comprises various elements deemed essential to delivering superior patient care. These include the quality of nursing leadership and coordination and collaboration across specialties, as well as processes for measuring and improving the quality and delivery of care.
The mission of the Magnet Recognition Program® is to continually elevate patient care around the world in an environment where nurses, in collaboration with the interprofessional team flourish by setting the standard for excellence through leadership, scientific discovery and dissemination and implementation of new knowledge. A key word in their mission is collaboration. Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall is incredibly proud of the collaborative effort of our entire team!
