Welcome to Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall
As we enter 2026, it will be no small task to surpass the extraordinary year behind us—one spent honoring our history, celebrating the present, and purposefully shaping the future. The past twelve months marked a period of powerful reflection, sustained momentum, and meaningful growth for Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall (MSLC). Celebrating our 150th anniversary was more than a milestone; it reaffirmed the trust our community has placed in us for a century and a half and strengthened our shared vision for what the future holds.
NAVIGATING HEALTHCARE IN THE HUDSON VALLEY
Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall experienced significant growth within
our Medical Group, further
strengthening access to specialized, high-quality care across our region,
bringing more primary and
specialty care closer to you!
- Dr. David Blumberg joined MSLC as a nationally recognized Colorectal Surgeon, addressing the growing need caused by rising colorectal cancer rates among younger adults.
- Dr. Rinda Mousa expanded our Infectious Disease team, strengthening care for patients with complex medical needs.
- Dr. Sandeep Malik, an experienced Hematologist/Oncologist, joined MSLC from Montefiore Einstein, enhancing access to oncology, and leading the newly launched Anemia Center.
- Dr. Alexandra Kammen, a Neurosurgeon with both functional and stereotactic neurosurgical expertise, is now providing care for our patients under White Plains Physician Associates.
Our clinical growth extended beyond physician recruitment. With the leadership of Dr. Jaspreet Singh, we are now one of the only hospitals in the region offering Aquablation, a cutting-edge, minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a condition that causes urinary and other issues in men. We have also expanded access to care by relocating our Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine to a larger space on the Cornwall campus and adding a third hyperbaric chamber, allowing us to better meet the wound care needs of our community.
Further reinforcing our commitment to the future of medicine in the Hudson
Valley, MSLC proudly graduated its first class of Internal Medicine residents
and increased the incoming class to 20 resident physicians, strengthening
both our academic mission and our physician pipeline.
As we began 2025, we launched our Navigation Program with one clear goal:
to make healthcare easier for our patients and families by navigating
them through the complexities everyone faces when needing quality healthcare.
This transformative initiative was designed to guide our community seamlessly
through every stage of your care, from prevention and screenings to appointment
coordination and insurance support. In its inaugural year, the Navigation
Team supported hundreds of patients and families across both inpatient
and outpatient settings, removing barriers to care and delivering a more
connected, compassionate experience. Even
greater expansion is planned for 2026.
EXCELLENCE MADE POSSIBLE BY OUR TEAM
Our dedication to excellence in care was reaffirmed through the renewal
of our Magnet® designation, placing Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall
among the nation’s most elite organizations for nursing excellence.
This commitment to quality was further validated through multiple accreditations
and recognitions throughout the year:
- Reaccreditation of MSLC Cancer Services by the Commission on Cancer
- NAPBC Reaccreditation for the MSLC Breast Program
- Successful Stroke Recertification by The Joint Commission
- Reaccreditation of Laboratory Services by the College of American Pathologists
- Continued recognition by Healthgrades TM, including Five-Star ratings for Coronary Intervention, Sepsis, Respiratory Failure, and new in 2026, Colorectal Surgery
The philanthropic momentum generated during our 150th anniversary year has been equally inspiring. Monthly fundraisers and friendraisers energized the work of the St. Luke’s Cornwall Health System Foundation, welcoming new donors, strengthening longstanding relationships, and expanding our mission, and brought in an astounding $1.5 million in support of MSLC, with all proceeds reinvested back to your community hospital, ensuring that important programs and needs are all addressed. In 2026, we are committed to
sustaining this momentum with new events and ongoing opportunities for community engagement. And for 2025, we say thank you to all who helped make MSLC’s philanthropic goals a reality!
So, what can you do to support MSLC? The answer is a simple one: continue to choose your community hospital for your care and think about us in your annual giving. The dedication of our donors and the trust of our patients made 150 years possible and that continued support will ensure a strong and sustainable future.
OUR GREATEST STRENGTH: OUR PEOPLE
Finally, and most importantly, we remain deeply committed to the more than 1,500 employees who call Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall, home. Through a comprehensive employee engagement strategy focused on respect, quality, and continuous improvement, we connected with our workforce in new and meaningful ways, through increased communication, active feedback, and celebrating the daily successes of those who dedicate their lives to caring for our community. We continue to foster an environment where hearts and minds come together to deliver the highest level of care to the community we serve. At the core of MSLC are our people, and together, their collective impact is truly unmatched.
THE FUTURE IS BRIGHTAs we enter the new year, MSLC remains steadfast in its commitment to expanding services that meet the evolving needs of the communities we are privileged to serve. Through the strength of our health system, we will be able to grow thoughtfully, bringing advanced, high-quality care closer to home for the patients and families who rely on us.
What began 15 years ago as a primary care practice grew into The Medical Group at MSLC, a comprehensive multi-specialty group that serves as one of the many access points to our system of care. With same-day appointments available at our convenient locations in Cornwall and the Town of Newburgh, we ensure timely access to care when it matters most.
In 2026, The Medical Group will expand its scope even further. We are excited to welcome Dr. Mahak Chauhan in the coming weeks, adding Gastroenterology to our services, followed by Dr. Richard Bryan, who will bring Rheumatology to our community. These important additions reflect our ongoing investment in comprehensive, patient-centered care.Equally vital to our growth is the strength of our partnerships with donors, friends, and all who choose MSLC for their care. Your support makes it possible for us to serve our community today and has sustained us for more than 150 years, a milestone we could not reach without you.
As we welcome the new year, I am deeply grateful for all that has been accomplished and inspired by the future ahead. Together, with our partners across the Montefiore Einstein family, we are transforming healthcare in the Hudson Valley, ensuring access, excellence, and compassion for generations to come.
To our community, we say thank you and we look forward to another 150 years of caring for you and your families! Most Sincerely,
Daniel J. Maughan, RN, FNP-C
