SLCH to Hold Breast Cancer Education In Highland Falls

Hospital

Newburgh, NY – St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital's (SLCH) Littman Cancer Center and Cornwall Radiation Oncology Services (CROs) are partnering with The Center of Highland Falls for a community education event promoting the importance of breast cancer self exams. The free program will be held Thursday, April 23 at 6 p.m. inside The Center's 312 Main Street location in Highland Falls.

Staff members from SLCH and CROS will provide education on proper self-exam techniques, frequency and what signs to look for during the exams. The presentation will include the chance to examine teaching facsimiles to get a better sense of how potential hazards feel.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer that women may have to face in their lifetime. While the disease can occur at any age, especially in high-risk women or women with a family history of breast cancer, the risk increases at age 40. Women without a family history of the disease will also benefit from the information as 70 percent of all breast cancers occur in women with no increased personal or family risks.
