SLCH Honors Board Members at 2018 Leadership Reception

Hospital

Newburgh, NY – St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital (SLCH) recently held its 2018 Leadership Reception to recognize hospital and foundation board members that provide exceptional voluntary leadership to SLCH. Their time and accomplishments were honored throughout the night.

Among the recognized board members were Ellen Kelly of the Board of Trustees, John Pelella of the St. Luke’s Cornwall Health System Foundation Board of Directors (BOD), and Eric Najork, who recently concluded his term as Foundation Board Chair. SLCH thanks them for the instrumental role they played in the hospital’s recent successes and for their passion and dedication to the community.

“Their guidance has helped SLCH navigate through the transformation of healthcare, and emerge as a leader in providing exceptional care to our patients, and in making a difference for our community,” said Joan Cusack-McGuirk, SLCH President and CEO.

Ellen Kelly served diligently not only on the Board of Trustees, but also on the Governance Committee, the Board Performance Improvement Committee, and as Chair of the Patient Safety Committee. John Pelella has served SLCH in many ways, first as a staff pharmacist at the Cornwall Hospital, and most recently as a member of the BOD, where he also previously served as Chairman from January 2012-2016. John is also currently a member of the Board of Trustees. Eric Najork recently concluded his term as Chairman of the Foundation Board of Directors. He has been a long-time advocate of SLCH, both in time and treasury. Under his leadership, the BOD has developed a strong culture of philanthropy. Eric will remain on the Board through December of 2019.

The BOD also welcomed Charles Walwyn, III as the new Chairman of the BOD.  A special member of SLCH, Dr. Christine Jelalian, was also recognized at the reception. Dr. Jelalian served as a surgeon at SLCH since 1985 and was Chief Medical Officer from 2001 to 2017.
