Foundation

Newburgh, NY – The St. Luke’s Cornwall Health System Foundation (SLCHSF) proudly hosted its 150th Anniversary Gala at The Grand Ballroom at Eisenhower Hall, West Point, New York. This year’s event celebrated the milestone anniversary of Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall and marked a historic milestone, raising $460,000 in net proceeds and welcoming more than 600 guests, the highest fundraising total and attendance in the hospital’s history.

The 2025 Gala proudly honored three outstanding recipients for their commitment to strengthening the community and supporting the hospital’s mission.

“We are honored to celebrate 150 years of service to our community and deeply moved by the generosity demonstrated at this year’s gala,” said Daniel J. Maughan, President and CEO of Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall. “The recognition of our three distinguished honorees exemplifies the enduring values of leadership, dedication, and compassion that have been central to our mission to serve.”

Dr. Philip O. Ozuah – Visionary Leadership Award

Dr. Philip O. Ozuah, President and CEO of Montefiore Einstein, was recognized for his visionary leadership and transformative impact on healthcare. Ten years ago, Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall joined the Montefiore Health System, ushering in a new era alongside national leaders in healthcare delivery. This milestone strengthened the care provided locally by Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall and unlocked new possibilities for innovation and growth.

Under Dr. Ozuah’s leadership, Montefiore has flourished, now encompassing 13 member hospitals, more than 300 ambulatory sites, and accounting for 7.5 million patient encounters annually across New York City, Westchester County, Hudson Valley, and extending its reach across the globe.

Alan Seidman – Community Commitment Award

Alan Seidman, Executive Director of the Construction Contractors Association of the Hudson Valley, was honored for a lifetime of service and advocacy

He served on the Cornwall Hospital Foundation Board, co-chaired its building expansion campaign, and remained involved following the hospital merger. His service extends well beyond healthcare, including leadership in food assistance programs through the New Windsor–Cornwall Rotary Club, and strategic guidance on major projects for the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor.

Notably, Alan served for 15 years with the Cornwall Volunteer Ambulance Corps, including six years as president, responding to more than 1,000 calls. His integrity, generosity, and enduring dedication continue to inspire others.

St. George’s Episcopal Church – Founder’s Award

St. George’s Episcopal Church was honored with the Founder’s Award for its foundational role in the hospital’s history. Reverend Dr. John Brown, who served as rector for 63 years beginning in 1815, influenced St. George’s lasting contributions to healthcare and service.

Reverend Dr. John Brown, along with the devoted women of the parish, established both a home for the aged and the hospital that would eventually become Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall. Today, that legacy of healing, compassion, and service remains a cornerstone of both institutions.
