Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Participates in Countywide Emergency Response Exercise
Orange County, New York [June 10, 2025] - Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall (MSLC) Emergency Management team partnered with the Orange County OEM to conduct a large-scale mass casualty exercise simulating an international plane crash into the Hudson River. This event was designed to test the county’s and local hospitals’ ability to respond effectively to such a crisis. MSLC proudly participated in this important training exercise through the efforts of Dr. Shahram Ahari, Director of Emergency Medicine, and Marc Harrington, Emergency Management Coordinator.
The drill focused on critical aspects of disaster response, including the deployment of multiple helicopter landing zones for the rapid transport of stabilized burn patients. Coordination with family reunification services was also tested, ensuring that both patient care and emotional support remain top priorities during large-scale emergencies.
Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall remains dedicated to providing expert emergency care while ensuring readiness for any crisis the community may face.
