    device implanted in the chest of patients with a weakened heart muscle to automatically deliver a shock to the heart when needed to restore a normal cardiac rhythm.

  • Calcium Scoring CT

    Diagnostic and prevention screening test to measure calcium build-up on arterial walls.

  • Cardiac RehabilitationCardiac CT Angiography (CCTA)

    Noninvasive diagnostic CT imaging of the heart function.

  • Cardiac Rehabilitation

    Counseling, education and therapy to return patients to normal strength and activity.

  • Cardioversion

    A procedure performed to convert an abnormal heart rhythm to a normal rhythm by delivering an electric shock.

  • Critical Care

    Care addressing the unique needs of critically ill patients in the ICU; provided by a physician board-certified in critical care and a nursing staff certified in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS).

  • Diagnostic Cardiac Catheterization

    A procedure to examine blood flow to the heart and test how well the heart is pumping.

  • Echocardiogram (ECHO)

    A diagnostic sonogram that uses sound waves to produce images of the heart.

    A diagnostic recording of the electrical activity of the heart.

  • Electrophysiology (EP)

    A test to record electrical activities and pathways of the heart which is utilized to determine the cause of the rhythm disturbance and allows the cardiologist to determine the best treatment for the heart-rhythm abnormality.

  • Emergency and Elective Cardiac Angioplasty and Stenting

    Nonsurgical procedure performed in the cardiac catheterization lab that utilizes a balloon to open blocked arteries and allows for placement of a stent if needed.

  • Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR)

    A procedure used during cardiac catheterizations to measure blood flow in coronary arteries.

  • Hospitalist Program

    A team of physicians who are experts in hospitalized care and provide round-the-clock, inpatient, bedside care.

  • Intravascular Ultrasound Therapy

    A procedure allowing a cardiologist to visualize blood vessels from the inside of the artery utilizing ultrasound technology in order to measure plaque.

  • Pacemaker

    Device implanted in the chest to control heart rhythm.

  • Patient Navigator Service

    Patient navigators assist patients and their families from diagnosis to treatment to recovery and follow-up with patients after discharge.

  • Peripheral Angioplasty

    Vascular catheterization procedure that treats arterial blockages in the lower abdomen, kidneys, arms, legs or feet.

  • Rapid Response Team (RRT)

    A multidisciplinary team that provides rapid bedside assessment and assistance in the care of patients.

  • Step-Down Care

    A unit to provide continuity of care as patients recover following ICU/CCU care.

  • Transesophageal Echo (TEE)

    An echocardiogram taken by passing a tube through the esophagus to take pictures of the heart.
